Bubblegum Dancer / Encyclopedia / Artists / Dr. Macdoo

Dr. Macdoo is the second eurodance alias of Jonny Jakobsen (born 17 November 1963, Malmö, Sweden), and exeeded Dr. Bombay. Dr. Macdoo is Dr. Bombay's Scottish cousin, and like Dr. Bombay, Macdoo enjoys singing about his homeland and informing listeners about what he keeps under his kilt. Like Jakobsen's other aliases, Dr. Macdoo fits into the Bubblegum Satire category, due to his parody of Scottish society.

Musical Style
Johnny Jakobsen's music style can be described as bubblegum dance with a twist. Each of his aliases - Dr. Bombay and Carlito - have a unique style, that is based on their heritage. Dr. Macdoo's sound makes use of instruments such as bagpipes, flutes, and other instruments which can be seen as being typical of Scottish culture.

Critical Response
Many fans feel that the standard of Dr. Macdoo's songs are not as high as Dr. Bombay's. They say Jakobsen was just working off the fame of Dr. Bombay to experiment with a new alias. Fans say that it might have been better if Jakobsen had released just a few singles under the alias "Dr Macdoo", rather than a complete album in which not all of the songs are very strong. However, Dr. Macdoo did have some hits, most specially "Under The Kilt" which was also the name of his 2000 album, and "Macahula Dance". Both songs were released as a single and an accompaning music video was made.
