Gudrun is Webgirl, a bubblegum dance project from Denmark who released the single "worldwidewebgirl" in 1997. The song was later covered by TOY-BOX for their 2001 album "Toy Ride".
Single Information
Gudrun released the single worldwidewebgirl in 1997. The single had the address "lonelyheart@girl.me.home.europe" on the cover, though obviously the address doesn't actually work so don't try emailing it! The single is very rare, and was released in Digipak format (cardboard covers with a plastic tray).
The words were written by Miss Copehagen, and music is by Miss Copenhagen and Erika Hill. The single was produced by Chief 1 (tracks 1-3), and The Dentures (track 4) with James Olsen on drums. Executive producers: Nick Foss and Miss Copenhagen.
Gudrun is "webgirl", which was her nickname for this release. Her official Web site used to be at www.gudrun.dk, but unfortunately the site has long since expired.
Toy-Box's version of "www.girl" is very different to Gudrun's original, though it maintains the same melody in the chorus. Gudrun's version has a more pop flavour, with added verses and lyrics. Toy-Box speeds up the song, making it more catchy, and also more cheeky. Personally I think Toy-Box improved the song with their remake.
