 John The Whistler is Umberto Carli, a Bubblegum Macho artist from Denmark. He is most well-known for his 2000 single "I'm In Love" which appeared on his debut album, It's Crazy (2001). John The Whistler is produced under the Edel Records label (Germany & Denmark). His song "I'm In Love" has also appeared on a number of dance compilation albums, including Absolute Hits 2000 and Absolute Kids 2.

Like Holly Dolly, Crazy Frog, and Gummibear, a computer-generated character appears in the music videos singing along to the songs. In John The Whistler's case, the character is an anthropomorphic animal with a large nose and big ears, dressed in human clothing.

"John the Whistler" is the project of one man: Umberto Carli.
Umberto was born in Africa during the golden sixties.
It was the first time that they heard a baby whistling in the jungle!
Suffering the heat of the country and doubting the mental health of their son, Umberto's parents flew back to Belgium after a while.
Everything seemed to be OK until Umberto entered elementary school. One day, his teacher called "Madame Simone" was rushed in to a psychiatric clinic for nervous breakdown. The only thing she has been able to say ever since is: "stop him whistling"...
At the age of 18, Umberto was fired from the army.
The reason : making sonic trouble in the squad.
Becoming a musician, Umberto began to spread his demos among record companies.
The answer was always the same : great melodies but where are the lyrics?
So, Umberto decided to use words in his songs.
However, he put a little whistling in them...
Unique Style
John The Whistler has many characteristics which make him unique from other bubblegum dance artists. In every song there is whistling, whether it is in the chorus, or as a kind of 'instrumental'.
Some fans have described John The Whistler's vocals as rather "vocoder", similar to that of Eiffel 65. The style he sings in can be described as quite hypnotising, and it is difficult to change the song halfway in between because of the 'flowing' way the songs have been put together.
