Chong Lee was a bubblegum dance project from Sweden created by Morten Fischer and Jesper Dahlgaard, and headlined/created by Chang Il Kim. The act was inspired by the popular Dr. Bombay comedic act, and is a parody of the Asian cultures, particularly Japan. Chong Lee is known for singing about karate, eating sushi, and his geisha girlfriend who he is constantly losing.

Chong Lee is best known for his 2001 song "You Wanna Fight?" His debut album "Same Same But Different" was released exclusively in Taiwan in 2002. Chong Lee's real name is Chang II Kim and he was born in Korea and raised in Denmark.

The Story of Chong Lee

Growing up in a small village somewhere in the Far East, at an early age Chong Lee learned the basic skills of Karate and later became a Master of Kung Fu as well. His talent for singing and dancing was developed during thousands of hours of Karaoke shows in every local Karaoke Bar all over the Oriental region. The endless Karaoke performances eventually proved worthwhile; Chong Lee was discovered by talent scouts who immediately saw his great potential and now Chong is a superstar!

In his spare time Chong Lee enjoys enormous amounts of sushi and for relaxation he often trims his precious collection of bonzai trees (he used to make a living from cutting other people's trees). Curious by nature, travelling has always been his passion and as a happy Asian tourist Chong Lee has toured the world with his beloved camera taking photo after photo...

Album release

Production on Chong Lee's debut album began in 2001 and had the working title "Same Same But Different." 11 tracks were finalised, but according to Anders Nyman, one of the producers behind the album, the album was never licensed for release. However, in 2002, Water Music, Chong Lee's Taiwanese label, printed the album and it was released exclusively in Taiwan with a very limited number of prints.

"Same Same But Different" is the only documented Chong Lee release, though Water Music may have released some promotional singles with the album. If you have anymore information on this or the Chong Lee project please contact us.

5 Track EP

Before Chong Lee made a record deal with producers Anders Nyman and Robin Rex, 5 demo songs were produced and recorded for a 5 track EP called "Karateen." There were three songs on the EP: "Bamboo Bogaloo," "Yum Yum Sushi," "Karate Party," "Kodak Adventurer" and "Lotus Flower."

Numerous promotional photographs were also made to accompany the EP, which can be found in the gallery section. However, the songs from the EP remain unreleased to this day.
