Djumbo
Djumbo is a Bubblegum dance/pop group based in the Netherlands. Djumbo is made up of members Lindsy, Lotte and Samantha. They sing in a combination of Dutch and English, with the majority of songs being in Dutch and the chorus usually in English.
Djumbo's musical style is best described as catchy and innocent pop/dance aimed at children. While some people disagree that their music is bubblegum dance, Bubblegum Dancer considers them a more modern representation of the genre. The production on many of Djumbo's songs takes some elements of early bubblegum dance music, and while the group's style is overall more pop-based, much of their music is dance orientated.
Members
The current members of Djumbo are:
- Lindsy Schuman is described as a helpful little girl, sometimes timid, one of her favourite activities is chatting on the phone.
- Lotte Prijs is said to be open-minded and honest, and she loves animals.
- Samantha Klumper is the newest member of Djumbo, she is 24 years old and loves singing and dancing. She replaced Svenja when she left the group in 2011.
Past members:
- Svenja van Beek (2004 - 2011) is sporty and she loves dancing and shopping.
History
The three girls met in a dancing school in Eindhoven where their dancing skills were discovered by Platen producer who signed them up for their first single Hide and Seek under the Djumbo project. Their 2 first singles entered Top 5 in their homeland (Netherlands) and they succeeded, in less than 6 months, to become one of the most popular pop groups in the country.
Svenja leaves
In 2011, Svenja decided to leave Djumbo. "After 7 beautiful years with Djumbo I wanna grow further," she says. She wishes Lindsy, Lotte and the new member good luck in the future.
On Saturday 15 of January 2011 Lindsy and Lotte published the new member of the group in a special show called 'Wie wordt het nieuwe lid van Djumbo' (translation: Who becomes the new member of Djumbo?). The new member of Djumbo is Samantha Klumper; she is 24 years old and loves singing and dancing. She is very happy that her dreams come true by joining Djumbo and Lindsy and Lotte are very happy to have her on board.
