my5 is a bubblegum pop/dance group from the Netherlands. They are best known for their 2005 single "Hi Hi Hi."

my5 was the brain child of Dutch producers Ronald Foilet and Henri Lookers, who held auditions to choose the members of the new music group. The auditions were held in 2004, and three girls and three boys were selected to be part of the new group: BJ (Bobby-June), Jamie-Lee, Nathalie, Boris , Bobby and Lesley. Nathalie left the band and Boris was later replaced by Juvani. With now 5 members, the group was named "MY5."

Between 2005 and 2007, my5 had 2 official releases: "Hi Hi Hi" and "Let's Go Crazy." No more releases came until 2011 when my5 released their unreleased debut album on the compilation album "Best of Hero Music for Kidz." The songs were released digitally via iTunes international.

The beginning

In Spring 2004, two music producers, Ronald Fiolet and Henri Lookers, had an idea for a new band. The concept was to create a multicultural group of kids, with music targeted towards kids and by the kids. Two advertising men, Peter and Henk Tas Velders, worked with the two producers and over the next few weeks they began to develop a concept for the new group. Much was planned for the group, including a few singles and an album, a Web site, radio, TV, film, plans to travel abroad, school tours, TV series, clothing and much more.

The Auditions

In February 2005, the preparations for the auditions started. The producers were looking for 'Multi Talents' and had to include dancing, singing and acting. From the hundreds of applications, about 70 candidates were selected to audition for Noes Fiolet Studios. In April 2005 the band members were selected. Originally, there was not five as originally planned, but six members. Three girls, three boys: BJ (Bobby-June) Jamie-Lee, Nathalie, Boris , Bobby and Lesley. All six had the same dream and same ambition: to conquer the world.

Unfortunately everything went slightly as planned. Boris later got a contract for the musical Annie, and left the group to be replaced by Juvani. Nathalie also made another choice in the preparation period and left the group. Then, there were five. As a result, the band was named "my5."

Hi Hi Hi: The first single

The first single from my5 is chosen Hi Hi Hi. The song is a nice cheerful, summery number, and was chosen as a sort of introduction to the public and future fans of my5. On the old Web site of my5, they described it as being like "Hi guyz and girlz, here we are, here is my5."

The single sold very well in Netherlands and my5 would later get a contact in Japan, kick starting the group's international dream.

Go Crazy. The second single

In February 2006, my5 released their second single "Let's Go Crazy." The single released included a special activity related to a code game, and a music video was also recorded for the song. The single sold reasonably well, but not as good as the first single, and no further releases came from my5.
