S&K
S&K from Germany are a pop-rap group consisting of two members, "Suggadaddy" Brian Cornell and Kirk Monteux. They are mostly known for their contributions to the Dancemania series in the late 90's and early 2000's.
"Suggadaddy" Brian Cornell is the vocalist and lyricist for the group. He started writing and rapping in dance music in 1994, collaborating with Franky Gee (Captain Jack) and Melanie Thornton (La Bouche) on multiple projects. His first commercial release was the Eurodance track "Feel The Rhythm" by Mind Control in 1994, which he both wrote and rapped on with the credit "King B."
Kirk Monteux is responsible for the sound and production of S&K's music. He got his start as a street guitarist in 1983, before finding connections among the electronic music scene in Berlin, Germany. He started performing gigs as a DJ, and in 1989, started his own music studio, where he worked on remastering projects for artists such as Cat Stevens, ZZ-Top, The Who, and Janis Joplin.
In 1997, Cornell and Monteux met and formed the duo S&K. Their first recorded song, "Get Up'n Move", was recorded for Dance Dance Revolution in 1998. The song instantly became a huge hit in Southeast Asia, and is one of the songs most commonly associated with the franchise's early days. Their further tracks continued taking inspiration from the typical DDR sound, though instead of appearing in any more rhythm games, their newer tracks were recorded for the Japanese compilation series Dancemania. They released four more songs in 2001 and 2002, as well as remixing the song "Happy Again" by Smiling Jane for Dancemania Speed 7 in 2001. Their typical sound is most comparable to fellow UK pop-rap group Bus Stop, who also found success through appearances in DDR and Dancemania. Two of their songs, "Going To Suzuka" and "Party Time", feature the duo experimenting with a bubblegum sound and including sugary female vocals along with Suggadaddy's usual raps. "Party Time" was credited on "Dancemania Speed 8" as "S&K feat. Lara Soft". It is unknown who Lara Soft is, although their old website mentions that Monteux has worked with a singer named Lara Herrmann, who may be a potential candidate. Her name is not listed on "Dancemania Speed 7" for "Going To Suzuka"; this track likely features a different female vocalist.
After 2002, S&K went quiet, before resurfacing in 2008. They uploaded a new website, as well as posting an album called "Revolution X" on download platforms, featuring full versions of all of their Dancemania tracks and three exclusive tracks. On this website, they announced that they would soon be releasing new material, including a United Forces remix of "Get Up'n Move" and a collaboration track with Smile.dk. Neither of these projects ever surfaced. The website went without updates from its inception until it was taken offline in 2014. "Revolution X" is no longer available on any sale platforms, but the tracks can still be found on YouTube.
