Gummibär
Gummibär from Germany is a character-based project best known for the song "I Am Your Gummy Bear". The character is inspired by a German brand of bear-shaped gummy candies, known as Gummy Bears in English-speaking countries, and designed by Peter Dodd.
Rather than focusing on the real people behind the project, all of the project's media is focused on the character, akin to the Jamba brand of projects. Gummibär's first release was in 2006, and the project continues to release singles at a steady pace. While Gummibär originates from Germany, the project records different versions of songs in several languages. Most singles are accompanied by an animated music video. Despite the project's German origins, the original version of the lead single was actually in Hungarian.
Aside from music, the character is used to promote physical merchandise, including toys, clothes, and video games. While the music is produced in Berlin, Germany, the physical merchandising is handled by "Gummybear International", a company located in New Jersey, USA. In late 2012, the character starred in a direct-to-DVD movie called "The Yummy Gummy Search For Santa."
