As a little girl Joyce (19) had dreamed to be a popstar. Dancing and singing had always been a huge passion of hers, and when she was younger she often pretended to be Madonna in front of the mirror in her bedroom. She also admires Neneh Cherry, Madonna, Sister Sledge (along with her sister Shelley), and Olivia Newton John from Grease.
Joyce makes her television debut as singer in the TV programme Tros Ministars, and she later sings in a the Dutch Kerkkoor. Besides singing, dancing is Joyce's other great passion. She has trained in classical ballet, jazz ballet, musicaldans, flamenco and streetdance.
On her 12th birthday Joyce received different Hula dancing videotapes from her aunt who lives in Hawaii. Since then Joyce was completely blown away by the Hula. She is completely in love with the beautiful clothes, the elegant way of moving and the rhythms.
It was Joyce's keen interest in the Hula that led her to become HulaGirl. In the early 2000s she signed up with Digidance in the Netherlands to record a single. The success of "Sunqueen From Hula Bay " and video spawned another single, and a debut album, "HulaGirl" was released in 2002.
