Jam & Delgado
Johnny Jam & Delgado (real names: Johnny Pederson and Karsten Dahlgaard) are a two producers, songwriters, and sound engineers from Denmark. They are responsible for forming the sound of euro bubblegum dance, and are best known for their work with artists such as Me & My, Aqua, Zoom, Plazma, Daze, Hit'n'Hide, JamPack, and Evelyn.
Johnny Jam & Delgado have been producing hit music since 1994. They work in their own studios in London called Skylab Studios, which used to be in Aalborg (Denmark) until late 1998.
Bubblegum Trademark
Johnny Jam & Delgado formed the sound of bubblegum dance in the early 1990s. The talented Danish duo, who at the time were working with Me & My, soon made the new sound their 'trademark' and began remixing for other dance groups that were forming all over Scandinavia. Johnny Jam & Delgado produced six tracks from Me & My's debut self-titled album, which went past the 1.5 million sales-marks in Japan.
Brief Biography
The first and most well-known artist that Johnny Jam & Delgado worked with was the dance group Aqua. Johnny Jam & Delgado helped Søren and Claus produce and mix some of their biggest hits, including "Doctor Jones", "My Oh My", "Happy Boys & Girls", "Barbie Girl", "Turn Back Time" and "Lollipop (Candyman)".Today Aqua remains to be Johnny Jam and Delgado's greatest success story. The album, Aquarium, achieved stunning world-wide sales of more than 14 million units.
Johnny Jam & Delgado are also well-known for their work with Daze. Once again, they helped produce, arrange and mix most of their greatest hits, including "Superhero", "Call Girl", "Together Forever", "Be My Lover" "In The Middle Of The Night", "Toy Boy", and "Sea Of Love". During an interview with Daze member Jesper T., Jesper said that they "owe everything" to Johnny Jam & Delgado. He also said that they were quite secret about what they did. "We delivered the songs to them, and they changed the sounds used and recorded the vocals...they made a class A product EVEN better."
Johnny Jam & Delgado also produced Hit'n'Hide's famous song "Space Invaders", which ultimately jump started the career of the two vocalists from that group. In 1998 they produced a re-release of Hit'n'Hide's single "Sundance", changing the sound to their famous euro bubblegum dance. For those of you who have heard Hit'n'Hide's original Sundance and the newly produced Sundance will see a huge difference in production. Jam & Delgado also produced Zoom's number one hit "I Can't Help Myself" which was included on their 1999 self-titled album. They also produced a remix of Evelyn's popular "Funny Bunny Boy", which was included on her album "Partystarter" in 1999.
Johnny Jam & Delgado formed a bubblegum dance project of their own in 1998, titled "JamPack". In 1998 they also released a single under an alias of their's, "Plazma". The single "Getting Married (Ding Dong Ding)" was released in Denmark and Germany.
Non-bubblegum dance productions by Johnny Jam & Delgado include their work with Ace Of Base, a very well-known dance pop group from Sweden, in which they produced Tokyo Girl, Travel To Romantis and Cruel Summer (Big Bonus Mix). They also produced New Londonbeat's "I've Been Thinking About You", and "Read Between Your Eyes."
